“Dr. Fan Yang is a gem and an extraordinary teacher. Not only is she incredibly caring and kind, but she is also able to take a piece of music and completely unravel the underlying, subtle details of the composer’s heart and help transform the piece into the student’s own personal story. Ever since I started working with her, I have become so passionate about practicing scrupulously in order to improve and absorb everything that she has taught me during the lesson. She is an absolutely exemplary teacher. I give her my most genuine, highest recommendation!!”

It was always fun and full of new material...”

“I’ve taken piano lessons from Mr. Cho for the past 13 years, and without a doubt, it has been the most fulfilling experience of my life. He has an incredible understanding of music, and he teaches lessons that reach beyond piano performance. Along with teaching the technicalities of piano, he also enables his students to play piano emotionally. His students achieve a higher level of piano playing than other students with the same years of experience of different teachers. Mr. Cho is extremely kind and can work with anyone student, no matter the age. Learning to play the piano is an invaluable skill that has unlocked a passion in me that would have stayed hidden if it weren’t for Mr. Cho, so I recommend the ChoYang Piano Studio wholeheartedly!”

“Regardless of the subject, a great teacher can spark the curiosity of any student willing to listen. In more ways than one, Mr. Cho has taught me what to listen for. Great piano teachers aren’t classified as such simply because they are masters in their own right or because they are the most knowledgeable about their field even though Mr. Cho is all those things. They are marked by their patience, compassion, and dedication to their students. As a student, there were weeks when I practiced as I should have, and other weeks when I wasn’t as prepared for a lesson as I could have been admittedly that might have been more often than not. But Mr. Cho couldn’t have been more patient when he thoughtfully, carefully walked me through scales and passages from week to week. And when I got something just right, my excitement was always met with his doubled enthusiasm. Whether I had practiced for seven hours or for seven minutes, his dedication and encouragement were inextinguishable. He in turn has helped foster my commitment as a student and my love for the piano. Any teacher can focus on what you don’t know, or what you’re doing wrong. Mr. Cho teaches me about what I can know and what I can be. I have been so lucky to be his student. With his gracious personality and virtuosic knowledge, I know that anyone ready to listen will feel the same way.”

“Mrs. Yang and Mr. Cho have been wonderful piano teachers for my two sons who are in elementary school currently. My sons, who were mostly into sports and not so much interested in music found the true love of piano ever since they met ChoYang piano studio. Yes! Nowadays, my kids never complain about going to the piano studio, and there is no longer a tiresome piano practice war with mom anymore. Mrs. Yang and Mr. Cho are not only great teachers but are also known to be outstanding piano performers with distinguished profiles/backgrounds. Nonetheless, they are very humble and sincere and truly love teaching piano wholeheartedly all the time. When they teach, you will find that they are firm but kind, competent yet delicate with students' emotions. I can see they genuinely inspire, motivate, and draw students into music.
Overall, my family is so grateful and blessed to have them as our music teachers, and looking forward to having a delighted piano journey together continually! With ChoYang piano studio's esteemed support, my two sons have been playing as the main pianist in the school chorus, performed at talent shows, and were awarded at piano competitions.”

“Fan and Steve Cho are the most wonderful piano teachers I have ever worked with or met. My son started learning the piano with them in 9th grade. He studied with them for 4 years and became an excellent classical pianist. Fan and Steve had been highly recommended to me when I lived in Chatham, NJ. Then I moved to Hoboken, NJ and we continued the piano lessons in Fort Lee on their beautiful Steinway Piano! My son grew in so many ways beyond becoming an accomplished pianist. He became a better student, more disciplined, more diverse in every way, and became creative and consistent in his practice. Now that my son is in college, I am going to start to take piano lessons! They give their students, so many wonderful opportunities to play in public and also help them record their music professionally. These two teachers are the hidden gems of true teaching and compassion and have my deepest respect. I recommend them with the highest level of enthusiasm.”

“We've been looking for a good piano teacher for my children for two years. We tried different studios and private teachers. I am so happy my friends recommended Mr. Cho to me. He is an excellent teacher, calm, but at the same time persistent, he feels the possibilities of the child and draws up an individual training program. He’s very punctual and responsible. Highly recommend.”

“Having been Mr. Cho’s student for more than ten years I have always known him to be kind, patient, knowledgeable, and above all a supremely talented teacher. His ability to deliver the right feedback in a gentle, guiding manner has been something I’ve relied on in my years of learning and has helped me grow enormously. His demeanor and expertise are perfect for beginners, long-time students, and everyone in between! Dr. Yang's ability to help me understand the inherent musicality of any performance has been invaluable to my education and her lessons are always exactly what you need to hear for efficient and organic growth! These two are the most outstanding teachers, musicians, and people.”

“Our kids have been taking piano lessons with Mr. Cho for the past 5 years, and we have been incredibly happy with him. He is very kind and patient and knows exactly how to meet each student at their ability level. He is very encouraging and supportive in helping the children to reach their potential. We are so impressed at how beautifully our children can play. It can be difficult to find a good teacher. We are extremely grateful to have someone like Mr. Cho, who has the proper training and professional background and is a wonderful teacher as well. We highly recommend him!”

“My 6-year-old daughter has been taking piano lessons with Mr. Cho for a little more than a year. He is hands down the best piano teacher for little kids! He is very capable of dealing with young kids, even difficult ones, with great patience and love. My daughter is the kind of kid who’s more into sports and art, but I myself play piano so it was my wish to make her learn piano. Not her wish. Right after she turned 5, I tried to teach her piano myself, but it didn’t go well - she resisted so much and didn’t let me teach her, always saying “I can do it all by myself! I don’t need your help!”. So I decided to ask this tough job of someone professional.

I saw my daughter not behaving well during lessons with Mr.Cho for the first couple of months. Almost disrespectful. I think that was due to her discomfort and nervousness in having to do something she wasn’t confident in. That being said, Mr.Cho always kept his cool and did his best to teach her piano and encourage her. Very soon, both Mr. Cho and I were pleasantly surprised at how much her behavior during lessons and her attitude toward everyday practice changed in a positive way. She even played two short pieces nicely in her first recital, only three months after she met Mr. Cho.

Now she says she loves piano and enjoys Mr.Cho’s lessons very much. She’s still very young and sometimes reluctant to practice piano, but we don’t see any of her problematic behaviors during lessons. I truly appreciate Mr. Cho’s professional skills, effective and efficient time management during lessons, and his love of teaching. Through watching his older students playing the piano beautifully at recitals, I know he’s good with advanced piano students, but I also strongly recommend Mr. Cho to anyone with little kids!”

Ms. Fan has been teaching our 13-year-old son for some time now, and we have only incredible things to share about her. She is a very skilled teacher with a wealth of knowledge to share. She loves what she does and wants to see others succeed. She is very kind and patient and offers a lot of helpful advice to make learning engaging and fun.

We look forward to our son's continued growth with Ms. Fan. We highly recommend her services to students on many levels

Fan has been teaching my daughter and myself for over 15 years. Neither my daughter nor I have the “ear” for music to naturally recognize tones, but Fan has been teaching my daughter to distinguish the sounds. She has helped her prepare for multiple competitions as well as a private performance a couple of years ago. In addition to the typical lessons, Fan would host "playings" throughout the year. Sometimes in a piano studio, or senior home, or even their own apartment. Fan also offers summer programs when the child gets older and also lesson in music theory.
